Evolution

Put simply, evolution is the scientific theory that living things have changed over time. This results in descendants having different physical characteristics than their ancestors; eventually their genes are so different that new species are formed. It is widely believed that living things have changed because some have certain characteristics that help them to survive better than others. So... the ones that live long enough to reproduce have offspring, and their genes get passed on.
