As part of studying the oceans of the world, the NOAA explores shipwrecks. Look here to find pictures and descriptions of their recent finds.

This is a very successful group of underwater archaeologists founded by one of my favorite authors, Clive Cussler. They have rediscovered and raised all sorts of amazing ships.

Return to the Titanic

One of my heroes is Robert Ballard, an incredible man who has been involved with finding and exploring the oceans (and shipwrecks!) for a long time. I've heard him speak a couple of times about when he discovered the Titanic; it was gripping and very emotional, as he was essentially viewing a mass gravesite. Yup, this is the guy who found that wreck. This site covers his 2004 expedition, where he went back to the Titanic on the ocean floor to find out how badly it had been damaged by visitors with ROVs and submersibles.
